Shahira Nizamdeen
Year 1 Teacher
Shahira is an experienced and passionate early years educator with over seven years of teaching experience in preschool and kindergarten settings. Having worked within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), she is skilled in creating inquiry-based and differentiated lessons that inspire curiosity and independent learning. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Primary School Teaching, along with a Diploma in Preschool and Sub-Primary Education (Distinction) from Ladies’ College, Colombo, and a Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers (Distinction). Currently based in Sharjah, UAE, Shahira brings global classroom experience and a warm, nurturing approach to her teaching. Inspired by her own teachers and a lifelong love for guiding young learners, she believes in making each child’s learning journey joyful, meaningful, and filled with discovery. As one of the pioneering teachers at Layan Online School, Shahira is eager to lay strong foundations for confidence, creativity, and curiosity in our young learners from Years 1 to 3 as they begin their learning adventure.
Shabiha Niyas
Year 2 Teacher
Shabiha is a passionate and committed primary educator with nearly three years of teaching experience, having served as a Class Teacher for primary grades at an international school in Sri Lanka before relocating to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She holds a Diploma in Primary Teacher Training with Honours from the American College of Higher Education and is currently pursuing a BSc in Early Childhood Education at Lincoln University College. Guided by a deep sense of purpose, she views teaching as a meaningful act of service — a way to nurture young learners and contribute positively to her community. Shabiha brings strong skills in classroom management, differentiated instruction, and play-based learning, ensuring that every child feels valued and supported. As one of the pioneering teachers at Layan Online School, she aims to build a caring and stimulating classroom atmosphere where children in Years 1 to 3 can grow confidently, think creatively, and feel confident to express themselves, think independently, and enjoy every step of their learning journey.
Summra Buhary
Year 3 Teacher
Summra is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with over five years of experience teaching primary students across Cambridge, Edexcel, and National curricula. She holds a Higher National Diploma in Early Childhood Education (OTHM Level 4 & 5) from Gatwick College of Business and Technology (UK) and has completed multiple certifications in child psychology, teaching pedagogy, and English language. Having taught at Global International School, Summra was recognised for her creative lesson planning and student-centred approach. As one of the pioneering teachers at Layan Online School, Summra brings strong classroom experience and a passion for nurturing young learners. She believes that building strong relationships with her students fosters a joyful, caring and engaging learning environment where children in Years 1 to 3 can explore, express themselves, and develop a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
